Frequently asked questions

Is 4Notepad really free?

Yes. 4Notepad is 100% free, with no usage limits and no need to create an account or log in.

Are my notes saved online?

No. Your notes are saved only locally, in your own browser's storage (localStorage). They never pass through any server, so they're only available on this browser and this device.

How does sharing work without an account?

When you click Share, 4Notepad compresses your note's text and encodes it directly into the link itself. No copy of your note is ever uploaded to a server — the link literally contains the note. Opening it lets someone else import that text as a new note in their own browser.

If I clear my browser cache, will I lose my notes?

Yes, since they're stored in the browser. For a safe backup, export your note as a .txt, PDF, or Word file and save it to your computer or a cloud service.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, 4Notepad is fully responsive and works on phones, tablets, and desktops, in any modern browser.

Is there a character limit?

4Notepad itself doesn't set a limit. The practical ceiling depends on your browser's storage capacity, and very long notes will produce a longer share link.
